In recent years, the Provincial Mine Action Programme has effectively been implemented with active support of non-governmental organisations, resulting in clearing 1,000 hectares of land, conducting 5,000 EOD tasks, destroying 20,000 UXO and covering 20,000 residents with MRE activities each year.

At the event, the participants of NGOs, the Provincial Legacies of War Steering Committee focused on discussing issues such as standard operating procedures in mine action, action experiences, clearance depth, sharing information about explosive remnants of war, providing vehicle support, stockpiles, training; linking mine action to socio-economic development plans; eod spot tasks; budget for mine action; mobilizing funding for welfare projects and updating data of landmine/UXO victims.

Concluding the workshop, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam highly appreciated the support of operators and stackholders for the Provincial Mine Action Programme.

“The Steering Committee coordinates closely with organizations and departments to strictly implement regulations on mine action in the coming time. Non-governmental organizations should take into account to allocate certain resources for the clearance at a depth of more than 30cm. QTMAC-DBU cooperates with relevant authorities to complete data of landmine/UXO victims; prepare specific plans for the period 2020 - 2025 to achieve the objective of the Provincial Mine Action Programme in 2025”, Mr. Hoang Nam proposed.
